SCRIPTURE
Luke 2:1-7
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

ACTIVITY
It’s time to make the Stable for your village.
The Stable can be a box (shipping box, shoe box, etc) with one side open (or cut off), any non-brown parts covered in brown paper (or painted brown) that will be big enough to hold Mary, Joseph, the manger and whatever animals you might want milling around.
Cut out windows for the stable, if desired.
Cover the roof with sand, gravel, decorative rocks, or small fake plants.
Draw (or print out) pictures of animals, cut out and glue or tape to stable walls. Another option is to have your kids find any small toy animals they might own and place in the stable.
Line the bottom of the stable with craft straw or brown paper shred, or brown paper.
Place in the middle of your village.
