25 Days of Christmas – December 20

SCRIPTURE

Luke 2:15-20

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

SONG

How Great Our Joy

While by the sheep we watched at night,
Glad tidings brought an angel bright.

Refrain:
How great our joy! Great our joy!
Joy, joy, joy! Joy, joy, joy!
Praise we the Lord in heav’n on high!
Praise we the Lord in heav’n on high!

There shall be born, so He did say,
In Bethlehem a Child today.

There shall the Child lie in a stall,
This Child who shall redeem us all.

This gift of God we’ll cherish well,
That ever joy our hearts shall fill.

ACTIVITY

Today, let’s make Shepherds and sheep for the nativity.

Make as many Shepherds as you want, using the same option you have chosen to make the other characters in the Nativity.

Paint or cut out different colors of clothing and headpieces. Peg dolls can have pieces of material glued on for headpieces.

Make shepherd staffs out of brown pipe cleaner, and attach to either a hand or, if you are using wooden peg dolls, to their sides.

Make sheep out of white craft pom poms, black pipe cleaner for the legs, and cut out a face and ears to glue on.

When you are done, place them in the nativity.
